Dr. Brenda Rode

Brenda was drawn to physical therapy to empower people and facilitate their autonomy after injury.

She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Pacific University in 2002. After years of practice in outpatient orthopedic settings throughout the state of Oregon, in 2016, she opened Rode Physical Therapy, a privately-owned and operated outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic. At Rode Physical Therapy, she specializes in manual therapy, with a strong emphasis on education and targeted therapeutic exercise. 

 

She strives to empower her patients giving them the tools to recover quickly and avoid future painful or limiting occurrences. 

 

Outside of work, Brenda enjoys traveling, traveling and traveling some more. She loves to explore and is drawn to the personal growth that stepping out of her comfort zone brings. She is a dedicated yogi, a true francophile and is never far from a good book.

Dr. Cristin Reed

Cristin brings 17+ years of treatment experience to our rehabilitation team. She is a highly skilled clinician with a hands-on manually focused approach to therapy. She utilizes a vast toolbox of techniques that allows her to provide individualized care to each patient. She is a compassionate and relatable provider focused on helping patients work toward achieving their goals. Cristin enjoys working with patients of all ages with a particular emphasis on complex spine and orthopedic problems. She also has extensive experience treating sports injuries, scoliosis, post surgical conditions and movement dysfunction.

Cristin is a Bend native who spent much of her adult life in the Washington, DC area before returning home to live near her family in 2017. She completed her undergraduate degree in Wellness, Nutrition and Exercise Science at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia before earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree from the Medical College of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia in 2005.

 

Outside of work, Cristin is an avid home cook and reader. She enjoys hiking and camping and spending time with her husband, two daughters and large extended family here in beautiful Bend Oregon.

Kari Szukalski, MPT

Karin joins Rode Physical Therapy with extensive experience in outpatient orthopedic settings.  She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2001 from Creighton University and is driven to continually learn through professional growth and teaching opportunities. She is CSCS certified and has been active in the community since 2006 teaching many types of fitness classes. Throughout her career she has specialized in manual therapy and patient empowerment.

Karin prides herself in patient-centered, individualized evaluations and developing evidence-based treatment plans in pursuing each patient’s maximum potential. She is inspired with each patient’s journey and how to create successful outcomes together. She feels truly blessed to have such an incredible role on the path to wellness with each person.  


Karin is excited to be a part of the Rode PT team which has such impressive professional education and experience in improving the lives of the great people of Central Oregon, inspired by the company’s mission to facilitate recovery and maximize autonomy and quality of life.


Beyond practicing her profession, Karin enjoys spending quality time with her three awesome kids and her pup, Saint.

Kari joins Rode Physical Therapy with over 20 years of experience in the one-on-one outpatient orthopedic setting treating patients with a mix of hands-on manual therapy, patient education and specific exercises tailored to the needs of each patient. 

 

She enjoys treating patients with a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including pre and post surgical patients, automobile and sports related injuries, and every day “life events”.  She holds a certification in the McKenzie method, a system for diagnosing and treating spine and extremity pain. 

 

Kari decided to become a physical therapist after years of competitive sports that introduced her to different therapists through the years. She loves the problem solving approach to Physical Therapy tailored to each patient’s needs. 

 

Kari completed her undergraduate degree in Biology, Chemistry and Exercise Physiology and Sports Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After years of sports travel, she switched gears and joined the rowing team at UNC where she still keeps in contact with many of her former teammates. She went on to graduate with honors from Western Carolina university in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains. 

 

Outside of work Kari coaches mountain biking skills to women and children, volunteers for the Pine Mountain Sports Women’s mountain bike program,  snowboards, gardens and chases her backyard chickens. She enjoys spending time on the mountain and in the woods with her family.
